THE TOWN OF MADRID (pronounced MAD-rid)

In the old days, the mining company owned the mineral rights, the cabins, the shops and you company ‘scrip’ was miners payment to be spent at the company store. These same miners labored for months along with local artists to create a spectacle of Christmas lights that Madrid became famous for. It is a special adventure to visit Madrid at Christmas time. OUR FAVORITE THINGS TO DO IN MADRID

  • Soak in our hot tub under the incredible starry nights.
  • Take one of many walks into the hills and mesa. Our favorite is to old cemetery.
  • Enjoy margaritas and two-stepping at our local tavern, the Mineshaft.
  • Shop for unique finds in the many and varied shops and galleries one
    block from the Inn on Madrid's main street named "The Turquiose Trail.
  • Let us help you arrange a trail ride through the Cerrillos hills on horseback or spend a few hours on a guided hiking tour through a turquoise mining claim. (Advance notice will help us make your plans, and separate charges will apply.)
